The video below was filmed on a USO tour on a Marine base in Iraq but Gene Simmons pays a well deserved tribute to all branches of our military services.

Greece; ever since I moved to America and for years thereafter, I have been trying to find news, any news about Greece in the local and national US newspapers. But, after years of failing to do so, I came to the realization that Greece, is really too small – it does not matter. This of course was to change with 2010 rolling in…

It has been now about two months that, to my shocking surprise, we have been bombarded with news about Greece. Every single day, there is one or more stories in the front page of the Wall Street Journal and other newspapers, all analyzing the importance of Greece in the European Union in particular, and the world’s financial health in general.

I have spent the last few days in Denmark and Germany and a day does not go by without seeing Greece in the front, middle and back pages of the Financial Times and other newspapers written in languages beyond the four I can personally speak. So the question is, what makes little-tiny Greece, all of a sudden the center of the universe again? Don’t get me wrong, I am thrilled that Greece is in the news daily, but the question is why does Greece matter?

Greece is a minor euro zone economy, perhaps 2-3% of GDP, but what matters is the fact that Greece uses the Euro as its currency and the threat alone that Greece may go under sends shockwaves to the financial community, for the fear of one country going down may take other countries with similar problems with it as well.

The issue became critical when Greece announced that its budget deficit as percent of GDP, was way above what was reported by the previous administration, 12 or 13% to be exact, way above the required by the Union 3%. One only had to look at similar countries like Portugal and Spain to see they too had very high budget deficits. The PIGS, as they call them, i.e., Portugal, Italy, Greece and Spain make for a very unstable economic group, which, if can not meet its financial obligations to the community, puts unsustainable pressure on the Euro with the now known consequences. In fact, the Euro has gone on a free fall almost overnight, from being the dominant currency with dollar exchange rates around $1.5, to losing more than 5% of its value against the dollar, to an eight month low of $1.3529 as recently as two months ago and some analysts predict it may go down to $1.3, or even less.

So what can the mighty US learn from tiny Greece? Is it possible that the US, by running, or even threatening to run huge deficits, as the proposed social plans by the Obama administration indicate, would face similar disastrous economic situation that would severely and adversively impact the dollar, vis-à-vis the major currencies? Some people argue that this is not possible because unlike the EU where countries are not really legally bound by a single government, the US can legally mobilize financial resources and assist states that are in dire straits, something that the EU is currently challenged with. However, it is not the state budgets that create global havoc, but rather the budget deficits at the US federal level which are currently huge by historical standards that create serious risks and in turn scare away investors – like China, who are looking to expand their recently acquired wealth into more productive capital markets. One can already see that current US deficits, even before Mr. Obama’s proposals are approved, have scared away investors who are already looking for safer havens. China for one thing is building its gold stockpiles rather than investing in US real estate capital.

A country’s budget deficits, its liabilities to its people and foreign investors, put pressure on its ability to borrow in the open markets and eventually run the risk of seeing its bonds down rated. This is exactly what has happened to Greece and what can happen to America, if it doesn’t get its (White) house in order.
America has recently used extreme financial behavior by spending immense internal capital to bail out the auto industry and Wall Street on the premise they were too big to fail. This was the wrong long term strategy which bound to have two effects: 1) these industries have no incentive to put their house in order and, 2) the US citizens at large will be financing this error for ever.

It is interesting to see that Germany, the country that all other economies are compared to in Europe, decided that under no circumstances will it bail out Greece for the above two reasons. In the long run, Greece will have to find its way out of this financial Greek tragedy and be a better EU partner. There is no such thing as “too big” or “too small” for that matter, to fail!

For the US, tough times are ahead. It would be a shame if Greece, where democracy started, could not teach the world a lesson, and America is where democracy ended. For the shake of our children, I need to be proven wrong.

Now you may be asking…

“Am I calling Obama and his capitalist-hating minions ‘Marxist’ and ‘Communist’?”

Not to the extreme sense (yet?) of the brutal, murderer Josef Stalin but yes, there can be no denying the Obama administration has an insatiable thirst for state power to carry out it’s goal – the equalization of the classes, rich and poor, through wealth distribution.

Obama and his ilk desire a ‘soft’ communism or, for the sake of this article, let’s call it ‘Obamanism’ – a murky gray area that hovers between socialism and communism.

I hear you – “Matt, don’t get crazy! Obama is just a liberal and like all liberals, believes in huge expansive government and business killing, wallet wrenching taxes to pay for it. He won’t be around forever.”

Ted Kennedy was a liberal. Tip O’ Neal was a liberal. Jimmy Carter was a liberal (and a painfully bad president and even worse ex-president.) We survived these liberty-hating buffoons and even prospered once they LEFT positions of power.

But Obama and his thugs operate on a different level. The Obamanist are far more devious, cunning, far reaching, and goal oriented. And far more destructive to the America Way. Reagan’s America – ‘the shining city on the hill’ – our America, is under direct attack and quickly disappearing, as planned, by this administration and their criminal leftist cohorts in congress.

Don’t believe me?

Open any respectful newspaper (there aren’t many) and witness the vast government intrusion in our lives and the utter contempt for the American Constitution and our founding principles. Whether it’s the unconstitutional take over of our health care, bailouts of  businesses and banks (with the sole intention to gain ownership), allowing the immoral United Nations to dictate U.S. policy, etc… the Obamanist within this pathetic administration are attempting to destroy in months what took 230 years to build.

All in the name of ‘equality and fairness‘.

Yes, the Obamanist are smooth but there is more…

This government, under this disgusting guise of ‘equality and fairness’, strives to be the final say on corporate salary and bonuses… whether the company accepts federal funds or not. On the opposite end, this government feverishly works to dictate then implement through legislation a ‘fair and livable’ wage’ for the  ‘working class’ totally abandoning the free market principles that have made America great and the envy of the world.

And if that is not enough, be prepared for the upcoming and ever-increasing taxes and/or regulations designed to crush those industries deemed ‘obsolete’ or ‘too profitable’ (coal, insurance, pharmaceutical, talk radio, blogs) by the ego-maniac Obamanist occupying the White House and congress.

All this while Obama’s FTC quietly attempts to silence conservative opposition by ramming through democrat-backed legislation through congress or, if necessary, the quiet and stealthy backdoor  approach – using the liberal judiciary process.  (Senate bill S.160 – sponsored by the creepy Dick Durbin -  read this >>>)

Surely conservative talk radio, blogs, podcasts, cable television, etc… cannot be allowed to survive if the Obamanist are to truly create a Utopian society? Right?

Censorship: The Threat to Silence Talk Radio

Before you label me a ‘whacked right winger’ remember what the true Communist’s goal is, as stated in the Communist Manifesto…

“In this sense, the theory of the Communists may be summed up in the single sentence: Abolition of private property.”

Understand that ‘private property’, defined by the communist, does not merely consist of the plot of earth you own and dwell upon but ALL tangible property acquired by you through your labor. In essence, the fruits of YOUR labor would go the the State who, in turn, would distribute these fruits equally amongst the population.

The Obamanist know, as did the communist, as did our founding fathers, that private property equates to liberty and freedom. Control and dominance by the state can only be obtained through the consistent and systematic extraction of private property from the population.

But PLEASE do NOT take my words as your only point of reference!

Below are 10 points extracted directly from the Communist Manifesto. Read these carefully then honestly tell me you do NOT see similarities to today’s American government. After reading these 10 points download the Communist Manifesto and study their ways.

FACT» I DO believe long term government assistance for the able body sucks the spirit from the recipient and critically burdens the government (i.e. taxpayer) with generations of debt.

FACT» I DO believe man is the caretaker of the earth and those who maliciously and irresponsibly damage the earth for personal gain must be held accountable.

FACT» I DO believe the vast majority of American corporations and their leaders to be good but those found to violate the public trust should be held responsible. I DO believe that the capitalistic free market system is the best and most powerful machine ever to create wealth for any individual.

FACT» I do NOT believe that racial and ethnic minorities and women are second class citizens.

FACT» I DO believe we are ALL created equal but that racial and ethnic minorities along with women have been grossly ill-served for decades by pledging their allegiance to the democrat party.

FACT» I DO believe the Constitution, the Bill of Rights, and the Declaration of Independence are as relevant now as they were when first written over 230 years ago.
